24 Hours Older

( ongoing project...... )

Is time really a predator?

If death is the end of all of us and time past becomes longer than future time, then what do we have at birth? Everything?

Time should be a reward rather than a punishment.

Everyone's story about time is unique.

“What is the greatest change that the time has left on your body, or is there any memorable story about time and skin to you?”

The image is not found Newborn

For newborns, the footprint on their birth certificate is the original proof of their identity. In many countries, the doctor will stamp the footprints of the baby on his birth certificate to keep a file. Their footprint is almost their first step in the world and the evidence that they have arrived in the world.

“If it’s the aging of the skin, I don’t feel that much for now. But as for the body, I can feel my toes are not what they were when we were in primary school. At that time, we often changed shoes together after or before class. And I still remember that your toes can stretch very wide, but I can’t. Now, I have been dancing for more than fifteen years and my toes are already out of shape. Dancing is almost my whole life.”

The image is not found Climbing Tree

“Speaking of time and skin, there is a special memory haunted in my mind. My parents told me not to climb the trees because it was too dangerous. However, I was naughty at that age. On a summer day, I climbed a big tree and fell off. I didn’t cry although I was bleeding. I think it because I was too afraid my parents would scold me to cry. Fortunately, I hadn’t climbed too high at that time, but I broke my knee and it left a permanent scar. Although all kinds of entertainment available to me now, I still miss that innocent era.”

The image is not found A Mother

“I would say it is my daughter.” “I gave her born when I was your age, That was my first time as a mother, and I have done it only once in my life. She has a bad temper and I am not very patient. She lived with me and her father until she was 18. Heretofore, What I told her most was to blame her for not being sensible enough and lacking maturity. All my attention was focus on my business. But when she was going to College, it was the first time she and I had been apart for more than a half year. I suddenly realized that she actually just wanted me to pay more attention to her when she was naughty during her childhood. She is a big girl now and not so dependent on me anymore. She almost can do everything by herself and I am so proud of her. Now I have plenty of spare time since I am getting out the business. And I am really going to make it up to her, but she is the busy one now and it seems like she does not need my company anymore. To some degree, I feel I am more eager for her company. It is ironic, right? I can’t believe it has been more than twenty years since she came out of my belly. She was a late delivery infant. I have not got any childbirth symptoms for seven days after the expected production. The doctors feel there is something a bit queer going on. Upon examination, there was almost no amniotic fluid in my uterus. So I was immediately arranged for a cesarean section. After the most painful hours of my life...... there are she is. Only god knows how much I love her.”

“I used to be thin and elegant, however now, those stretch marks from having been fat remind me every morning that I am an old woman who is over fifty.”

The image is not found Pastry Cook

“I am a pastry cook. I have run my breakfast restaurant for more than thirty years. For decades, I had to get up in the middle of the night to prepare the dough. Almost all my life is hidden in the rough hands, tirelessly to hold up my family.”

This old man has Parkinson’s for nearly ten years. There are too many important moments in his life that are inextricably linked to his hands. When he was young, he worked in a cotton factory. His mainly responsible was to make the cotton more fluffy and soft. In the beginning, they needed to do it by hand. With the introduction of technology, it was later operated by machines. He lost a finger due to a mistake in operation. Unfortunately, his wife passed away during that time and he never married again. His granddaughter notices that he would take a picture of his wife out of his wallet when he was alone. When he misses her, he can only touch the person in the portrait. When he was nearly 80, he had Parkinson’s that makes him can not move freely and the left thumb always shakes unconsciously.

Time is everywhere. It never stops.
